Hope for the futureWhile some may label youth as troublemakers, at UrbanPromise Toronto, we believe that our teens are the leaders of tomorrow! As such, UPT gives opportunities to youth to give back to their communities by becoming junior counselors in our children and junior high programs. Streetleaders are part of the hope process in at-risk communities. As they learn life management skills, they become role models and leaders to people in their own communities. As they do so, they begin a cycle of healthy community development and positive citizenship. Where we workWe have Streetleaders working in 5 sites across the city:
ProgramsEmploymentYouth ages 15-19 are hired to become Streetleaders, or junior counselors in our children and high school after school and summer day camp programs. Streetleaders tutor, prepare games and activities, set up/clean up for program, and participate in many of the decisions made for programming. This program aims to equip teens with leadership training, life management, and employment training skills. BECOME A STREETLEADER!If you are between the ages of 14-19, live in the communities listed above, and would like to work as a streetleader, please download our Streetleader Work Application form and email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
