Since 1998 UrbanPromise staff have responded to the most vulnerable hours faced by urban children which are the after school and summer hours when children and youth hang out on the street or go home to an empty apartment. Dedicated staff and volunteers offer tutoring assistance, healthy snacks and recreation for children in four different Toronto neighbourhoods on a daily basis. Special events like talent shows, community hangout nights and several different trips to places like the Science Centre, museums, plays and sporting events, etc are also offered. Yearly Program Facts We serve in 4 communities across Toronto. Warden Woods (Scarborough), Rexdale (Etobicoke), Alexander Park (Downtown), Jane and Finch (North Toronto). We operate Afterschool Programs and Summer Programs in all of our communities. During the after school program there are: 128 Bible Studies provided, 288 Hours of Tutoring given, 7,200 Volunteer Hours given and 16,000 Snacks provided. Hundreds of children are involved in our four main Summer Camps, Retreat Weekends, Spring Break Camp and special day trips.
