Our programs for children ages 5-10 are developed out of the belief that self-confidence, academic success, social skills, physical health and spiritual growth are all necessary elements of healthy development in children.
| After-School Program — The focus is on building relationships with children with the aim of equipping them with the tools necessary for social and academic success. Working with teachers and community leaders, this program is committed to providing opportunities for children to learn through homework assistance, arts & crafts, life skill experiences, Word Up Bible stories and recreational activities, as well as providing healthy snacks for nourishment. |
| Mentorship — We aim to create positive role models for children in hopes that children will emulate the good choices their mentors represent. The program pairs caring adults with children that may need special care and attention. Mentorship activities include one-on-one tutoring, life-skills guidance, trips, and just hanging out! |
March Break Camp — Spring break is a time for fun, so UrbanPromise Toronto launches a week of creative games, exciting activities and inspirational learning. During the week, outside volunteer groups come and assist in running these theme days, carnivals, and other special activities.
| Summer Day Camps — Hundreds of children are given the opportunity to enjoy six weeks of high energy fun through UrbanPromise Toronto's summer day camps! Camps run from 10:00am - 4:00pm during the months of July and August. Children experience caring relationships while learning valuable social skills, life skills, Biblical truths and developing friendships. (return to top of page) |

YMAD focuses on the development of youth ages 11-14 with the belief that positive care and guidance during these years will enable youth to make healthy life choices as they continue to grow and mature. Studies show that the pre-adolescent years are critical as youth are beginning to develop a sense of self and become more aware of their peers and social surroundings. YMAD is a safe place where young teens learn that they can make a difference in their homes, schools, and communities while making friends and having fun. |
| After School – The focus is on building relationships with youth to help them discover who they are and to recognize their potential for academic success. Students are encouraged to reach this potential through one on one tutoring, daily homework completion and achievement incentives. Working with teachers and community leaders, this program is committed to assisting junior high youth in seeing marked improvements in their academics. |
| ‘Word Up’ Studies – Junior High youth come together on Friday nights to dig into the Bible, God’s Word of truth for their lives. It is a chance for interested youth to share a meal together and discuss topics of interest from Scripture which enables them to develop spiritually. |
| Mentorship – Mentorship focuses on empowering Junior High Youth by connecting them with Interns and Streetleaders who work with us and are positive role models for their lives. Youth experience focussed attention and gain confidence and self-awareness through one on one homework tutoring, life skills guidance and building friendships. |
| Summer Camp – YMAD Summer Camp is unique from all other camps in that it brings youth from three different communities in Toronto together throughout the 6 weeks of program. The focus is on community building, teaching sound life principles, and times of physical recreation and fun. Youth have a chance to meet young people like themselves while playing sports, working on creative projects and taking exciting trips together. (return to top of page) |

Our UPHold program encourages mothers living in government housing to see themselves as God’s beautiful creations by providing opportunities where they can grow spiritually and personally. |
| Mom’s Support Group – The Mom’s Support Group runs weekly and creates an open forum for mothers to connect and share. It focuses on building supportive relationships, teaching life skills, and encouraging self-awareness. The program also features guest speakers and workshops on parenting and life skills training. |
| Bible Study – During Bible studies interested parents are able to learn more about the Bible, discuss how it applies to daily living and participate in supportive prayer. These times of discovery and reflection allow participants to connect with each other in significant ways as strong relationships are built. |
| Home Visits – The purpose of these visits is to provide personal support, encouragement and care to families with special needs. Family workers discover the real needs of families during home visits and work together with parents to discover effective ways to overcome the practical challenges of family life. |
| Resource Support – While there are many useful resources and organizations in our city, it can be a rather daunting task to find which ones can help. UPT Resource Support is a helping hand that connects families with local community groups and agencies. |
| Special Events – Parents need to have fun too! Special events throughout the year help parents maintain a positive outlook on life. Different events include an annual retreat away from the city, Mother’s Day banquet, Christmas dinners, and summer BBQs. (return to top of page) |

We are committed to caring for the whole person and so we offer counseling care at various levels in order to address the particular needs of community members. |
| Counselling – Counselling services include clinical consultations, family guidance, and on-site support for our staff. Personal counselling is also available by referral or request for our children, youth, and mothers and is facilitated by our Director of Counselling. We use workshops and activities to help members of our communities learn effective ways to achieve healthy emotional development. |
| Crisis Intervention – UPReach Counselling offers crisis intervention and support as well as direction during critical incidents. All staff and interns are continuously being trained how to respond to children, youth and families in the context of a crisis. |
| Field Placements – In keeping with our commitment to encourage young people within our communities in their pursuit of academic success, we offer and oversee field placement opportunities for students at the College, Undergraduate, and Graduate levels. In these settings young people are able to further develop clinical skills related to counselling and the care of others. |
